I am Stephanie of Creative Button Photography. I Started my business in April 2011 and have now taken the plunge into the world of blogging my photo session. I have previously blogged a fair amount about my travels through New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica, Cayman, and soon on the books NYC and Iceland. I hope you enjoy reading about my many passions in life.
All the best,
Yep, you guessed! My past week has been filled with photos, accidentally deleting 11,000 photos, trying to recover them, reshooting, reediting, and finally finishing up!
My dear friends Scott and Elizabeth asked me to shoot their engagement photos, and I was SO beyond excited! I wanted to give them the best photos ever! I got finished editing them and was making space on my hard drive while backing up and accidentally deleted EVERYTHING! I lost 3 sessions, 2 of which I had to reshoot including Scott and Elizabeth’s. Good thing everyone understood and we made plans to fit another session into our busy schedule. I reshoot on Sunday and I wasn’t sure I loved the second session as much as the first because I really loved the first, but after digging my heels into the workflow I really think the second set turned out better! Maybe it happened for a reason, maybe not, but these photos are pure love! Of course there are some that I can’t get back and am desperately devastated about, but for the most part I really am happy with the second session! Well, here have a look for yourself and tell me what you think!
This week was filled with babies for me! Last Saturday I shot a birthday party for 4 adorable little tykes turning 1 (checkout http://www.facebook.com/CreativeButtonPhotography for images) and then I did a family session with a new mom and dad and their new baby, along with grandma, grandpa, and auntie I tell you, I am so lucky to get to capture these precious, beautiful and amazing moments! I think last weekend produced some of my favourite images EVER! The families were all so amazing and so great to work with! Everyone was just completely on board with getting great end results, which always makes my job easier! The love I felt this weekend for family just spoke loud and clear about all of these people. It made me think about one day having a family of my own and how that might change my life and fill it with more joy than I have yet to know! Anyway, here they are! For more images check out my facebook page! I must admit, I finally feel like I am hitting my stride and finding my style and it feel GREAT!
It is 12:26 am and here I find myself catching up on a much needed blog post. I am in the midst of returning to school for second last semester of my BSW and find myself wishing i knew I loved photography a long time ago, alas, Social Work is still a love of mine, and I am going to get that dang piece of paper if it kills me! I paid a lot of money for it!
Anyway, back to photos. I have found myself getting steadily busier and about to go into the busiest month I have ever had! YAY ME! It seems that all of my sessions lately are family sessions (maybe the universe is trying to tell me something) anywho, since I have had several sessions since my lovely little sissy and all with my new D7000 I figure I may as well share a few shots from those events!
Ohhh on a side note, I indulged in buying a new 50mm F/1.8 lens as well as a Kelly Moore camera bag (2 sues) which I am patiently awaiting in the mail Eeeepppp! I am so very excited!!!!
Anyway, here are my family shots from a total of 4 sessions!
So, while I was away honeymooning in Iceland I had the misfortune of having my new husband drop it and cause some serious damage to it. Sadly in combination of extensive use over the past 2 years and the drop I had to say good bye to my little D3100. Lucky for me it was on our last day and it lived long enough to see me on to the plane home, but with a jam packed shooting schedule on the horizon of our return, I couldn’t afford to be out my body and one lens. So…. I introduced the D7000 to my collection on Saturday. My first official shoot back was booked for the Monday so I convinced my little sister to do a session with me. Luckily she agreed. So, we went out to some hay bails on the side of the road near my house and we got crackin! LOVE THE NEW CAMERA!
my poor sister failed to mention her hay allergy and broke out in welts not long after we started. Needless to say it was the end of our short session but boy did we walk away with some stunners! I am so excited to share these images and they are so special to me. I feel like this is the start of a new chapter in my photography! So, here they are!
Well, it is true, I have been away for a while. I apologize, but I promise I have a good excuse. I recently (AUG 4) got married and went away for my honeymoon, so please forgive me. However, I have come home with plenty of amazing pictures and a number of wonderful stories! So with out any delay since I don’t have much else to say I will share some of my photos! Our honeymoon was first to New York and then onward to Iceland for a total of 15 days! it was pretty fantastic and so inspiring!
HOLY MOLY HAS IT EVER BEEN BUSY!!! This past weekend I headed down to Lethbridge Alberta for a wedding I had booked over a year ago! I was so very excited to see this couple though their engagement, her boudoir, and now finally the wedding! The day was jam packed with 10 hours on location and many curve balls thrown my way! I lost my wallet and all. The next day started bright and early with 2 boudoir sessions and then some portraits! Today, I will be showing you a few of Sara and Loran’s wedding pictures. I can definitely see myself improving from previous weddings I have done and for the first time I shot in FULL MANUAL!! I definitely am so proud of myself! well, here goes, let me know what you think!! Boudoir and portraits to come soon!
Hey all! On Tuesday I had the chance to go to see one of my favourite bands called Imaginary Cities! They are from Manitoba and are oh so delightful! I saw them last year in Lethbridge at The Slice, when they played with Pepper Rabbit and Hey Ocean, and it was love at first listen! The CD, Temporary Resident has been at the ready ever since! This time I got to see them at Calgary’s the Republik, one of my very favourite venues for a concert!
The openers were Federal Lights and Rah – Rah, but I was filled with excitement to hear the lovely voices of Imaginary Cities. They are the kind of band that when they sing, you can actually feel the emotions they put into developing the song and the presence just rings through your body. You actually believe the lead singer is feeling love or heartbreak as she sings.
This was the first time I dared to bring my camera to a concert and try and snap a few pics. I was so very exited and I feel like I got a few great one! You can see some of the images below! I am so excited with how they have turned out!
Well, I hope you enjoyed my post! I encourage you to go and check out this wonderful Canadian band and I hope you love them as much as I do!
